“Family Friendly Business Award”

Nominations due March 5, 2010 

This award is to be nominated to a business which exemplifies the values and practices of respect for employees who are parents of school age children.  Examples of best practice include: a safe, healthy, working environment with flexible time or personal days offered so that parents can attend parent/teacher meetings and important school functions; time off allowed for employees to volunteer in the community; child care assistance; family leave; and other policies and/or programs which enable families to balance work and family responsibilities. A family-friendly business creates an understanding, respectful work-place culture so that all employees feel valued and able to contribute.  The award will be announced at the Valley Outreach After-Hours March 24, 2010. The selection committee will be made up of a panel representing youth, business, non-profit agencies, education, and parents.
